African-Americans serve as a symbol for the strength of people of African descent (Black people) worldwide. The trials, tribulations, hardships, and obstacles which We have overcome within the last two centuries have galvanized an eternal badge of honor into Our very existence today. This badge of honor is manifested in different ways from person to person, however, the common denominator is the same — Solidify and strengthen Ourselves, Our families, Our friends, and Our people through education, discipline, being each other’s friend, having faith, and being willing to help one another unconditionally (even by risking Our lives). Yet, recently within this century, cognizance of both Our inner strength compounded with the things We now have — which were previously a dream for Us — has seemingly led us to be complacent in upholding Our badge of honor as well as losing sight of the above-mentioned common denominator. This complacency has even led Us to hurt and even kill each other. As a result, in order for Us to proceed with Our true course of rectitude, We will always need leaders. Those willing to go out of themselves to uphold the common denominator. Whether it be men or women, We are in need of leaders who will keep Us on course because, quite frankly, no one else will.
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is here to take responsibility on the behalf of Our men. We are the needles in haystacks; the prodigies; the elite, but not the elitists; the martyrs to Our cause.
We are Omega Psi Phi and this is our creed.
